JAL : What is obvious needs no proof.

JAL : What is obvious needs no proof. The dying rivers of Dehradun are not hidden from anybody, it’s just that we`re being ignorant about it. Rispana, Kosi, Tons, Suswa are small names now, the feeder of half the nation, The Mighty Ganga and Yamuna have been listed in the “10 dying Rivers of INDIA” . If we could only know the facts we might stop exploiting this valuable resource.

*In 15 years, we may have only HALF the water we need for our survival.
*The Ganga is one of the most endangered rivers in the world.

* Estimates say 65% of our water needs are met by rivers.

* 2 out of 3 major Indian cities already deal with daily water shortage. Many urban residents pay ten times
the normal amount for a can of water.

* We consume water not just to drink or for domestic purposes. 80% of water is used to grow our food.
Each person’s average water requirement is 1.1 million litres a year.

* Flood, drought and rivers turning seasonal are increasingly leading to crop failure across the country.

* Climate change is expected to cause worse floods and droughts within the next 25-50 years. During
the monsoon, rivers will flood. The rest of the year, the drought will follow.

These trends are already beginning!

Jungle: The Dying State of “CHIPKO”

On top of all a reports suggests that the unusual climatic disasters in Uttarakhand can be directly linked to deforestation. So what are we heading at in future, just another city with a cloud of smog hovering over us all the time, dying farmer, dried rivers and concrete jungle? Or we decide to sow and adopt at least 5 trees in our lifetime. So every citizen, not just plant but also adopt that tree and make sure that she or he has given back enough for the current & coming generations that this wonderful city will incubate. Let’s also pay regards to those who were part of the CHIPKO MOVEMENT, who`s effort saved the state and forests of Uttarakhand and compelled government to put a stay of tree felling for 15 years back in 1980. It’s time to awaken and take care of the Heritage.

KRISHI: If the farmer is poor then so is the whole country.

ROZGAAR

Agriculture is the most labour absorbing sector of our economy. In recent years, there has been a decline in the dependence of population on agriculture. Due to less returns and rewards, labour from agriculture has moved to either secondary or the tertiary sector. In the secondary sector, small scale manufacturing is the most labour absorbing. In case of the tertiary sector, various new services are now appearing like biotechnology, information technology and so on. But if we don`t keep the Agriculture into a routine and this trend of migration continues, there is going to be a huge problem of unemployment. So when we look 5-10 years down the line where we have taken steps to fix all the above points i.e. JAL JUNGLE KRISHI KAUSHAL ROZGAAR, we`ll see a gradual shift of momentum towards the progressive and sustainable development of our beautiful state UTTARAKHAND.

KAUSHAL: Planning for a year – grow corn, for 10 years – Plant Trees, but if you`re planning for a lifetime – Educate and make the farmer learned.

Skilled manpower is what makes the manufacturing sector more progressive in any country. More skilled the people are more the productivity, be it IT, Service Industry, Manufacturing or Farming. The fast-evolving technology is giving us something new every day to explore and implement into our own different fields, so till the time we are not skilled enough to make use of that invention we`ll be left behind and will be less productive. We need to train, educate and empower the disoriented workforce of Uttarakhand, especially in the field of agriculture and hospitality.
